Dairy Day

Today is Dairy Day! Come out to the market to test your knowledge on dairy cows, play dairy inspired games and milk a cow! Marti Day, Chatham County’s Cooperative Extention Dairy Agent, is pairing up with Lilly Den Farm to bring fun with dairy to the farmers’ market. It is sure to be fun for all ages!!

This week’s market

All of our regular vendors will be here. Most of what is new and in season is below:

Granite Springs is coming with MUSHROOMS, squash, zucchini, basil, cilantro, broccoli florettes, and cucumbers.

Red Roots Farm will be at market this week with green beans, purple haricot beans, zucchini, yellow squash, green cabbage, and three kinds of cucumbers.

No blueberries This is due to the late frost and below freezing temperatures that occurred in April.   We were hoping that enough of the crop survived the cold nights; however, after assessing the bushes very closely for the last several weeks, this will not be possible.  Most of the bushes have no berries.

Don’t forget your raffle ticket!!

This year all our vendors will be selling raffle tickets to help raise money for the market. Enter for your chance to win up to a $50  PFM gift certificate that is good at any vendor at any time. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. We will draw a winner every third Thursday of the month. For more information see Mackenzie.

Farmhand Food Share

Beth from Farmhand Food Share will be at the market collecting money or food donations that will go directly to the battered womens’ shelter in Chatham County. Any donation, big or small, is very much appreciated!
